Do you feel disorganized? Stressed? Overwhelmed? Remote COO has been supporting clients with these same feelings for more than a decade. While we have a running list of tips for getting organized, here are the top 3 ways to get organized for the biggest impact on your day.
1. Prioritize:
You cannot work on everything, every day, all day. That’s called burnout and it is not productive – trust us on that one. It is important to take a few minutes each morning to look over your responsibilities and action items and then prioritize them in order of importance or impact. Be deliberate about their true impact on your day and realistic about the amount of time it will take you to accomplish those things. Do not set yourself up for failure and disappointment by acting like you have more than 24 hours in a day. Being intentional about prioritizing brings organization and clarity so that you can begin your day feeling confident in the tasks ahead.
2. Block Out Time:
Your priorities (see above) are on your calendar. Period. Time blocking on your calendar will help you stay on task and adhere to your pre-planned activities. Don’t forget to set aside specific time for responding to emails; this will keep you focused versus getting easily distracted while ensuring you still answer timely. Be as detailed as you are comfortable being – it needs to work for you. You can block time for important personal items also, like family meals, exercise, or daily quiet time. The Remote COO team puts these time blocks into practice daily and finds that it not only keeps us organized, but also focused on top priorities for our clients.
3. Create Checklists:
Developing checklists and templates for recurring tasks and projects will help you stay organized and streamline your processes. It ensures consistency, improves productivity, and makes organization a breeze. We recommend using a cloud-based project management platform like Asana to track your tasks and goals with due dates and reminders. Getting your daily actions, client deliverables, and sales process, for example, into a workflow also helps you to easily delegate tasks to members of your team productively and efficiently.
Get Organized:
Those are the keys to organizational bliss. Truly! When you are organized, you are more likely to attain your goals, have work-life balance, expand productivity, improve your focus, and decrease stress. You can do it! Are you ready? If you are still feeling overwhelmed about implementing these tips or other ideas and actions that are swirling around in your head, we can help get you and your business organized.
